The Daily Show Nails It with a Two Ton Sledgehammer
This is the brilliance of this show. In six minutes, The Daily Show lays out why I'm so fed up with politics right now I'm considering turning this into a blog about what I have for breakfast every day.

One more thing. Like so many others in our I went bananas over the terrific smackdown Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) gave to the Republicans from the House floor (The GOP Plan: 1-Don't get sick; 2-If you get sick, DIE QUICKLY). I further liked his apology - only to the dead people at the mercy of insurance denial.
However, when Rachel Maddow asked him three times if he meant to invoke "holocaust" into that apology, I was screaming at the TV. Why couldn't Grayson simply say, "I meant it with a small 'h' - I certainly didn't mean to speak of that dark moment of human history, etc. etc. etc."? Indeed, one definition of holocaust in the Random House dictionary is "any mass slaughter or reckless destruction of life." It could have been a simple answer.
Instead, this otherwise brilliant orator turned semantically challenged and sidestepped the simple question twice before using the "poor choice of words" defense. Was Ted Kennedy truly the last great speaker of our party?
Bluntly, we've really got to get our shit together, then know how to defend it once we do. Grayson is a great start. We must figure out how to carry the ball across the goal line without fumbling.
If not, Hoffmania's Breakfast Blog may happen sooner than later.

Surely, Ms. Maddow would have known the difference. So then, why would she have done that?

Dave, she was giving him the chance to deflate the situation...three times. She even gave him the answer he needed to give the SECOND time she asked the question as a multiple choice. Don't blame her. She wanted him to say the right thing and he just plain fumbled.
We need to know how to answer questions, not play games.

Yep, that is it, exactly. We can't get the correct message out if we are going to do a 'Hitleresque' tit-for-tat.
By not getting what she was trying to do, the question of "Yeah, where IS that plan they promised last June?" gets lost.
Hopefully, it will still be the shot in the arm we need to get this down the field.
Don't get discouraged, Hoff.
My husband just got back to work after 13 months. Luckily, he has the VA but I don't have insurance. It has really been tough but your site is a place I can come and enjoy your sense of humor. Don't quit now. Let's keep going.

This guy is new. He was speaking from his gut and heart. He hasn't been brow beaten enough by the wimps in the Democratic Party yet. Give it another six months. After that point he'll have his brain taken over by the most powerful and do as he's told. Reality and honesty go by the wayside.
One thing he shouldn't do is say I'm sorry. At this point he has nothing to be sorry for. Now turn into a limp lily- livered wimp like a lot of the Dems, then you have a lot to be sorry for.
